The meeting will be held in the Harrison Hughes Building (School of Engineering) with the talks taking place in the Mason Bibby Common Room on the 1st Floor.

The LABB Group would like to thank Dr Hannah Davies for all her contributions to the LABB Group. Hannah was involved in our research since the inception of the LABB Group. Hannah has taken on a new role at University of Liverpool as the Human Material and Quality Assurance Officer. We wish her well in her new role.

We are pleased that Zhuo Chang, who was supervised by Dr Riaz Akhtar on a project related to arterial stiffening has been awarded the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding PhD Thesis for Self-Funded Students 2018. Zhuo’s work focussed on utilising the internal mammary artery as a novel target for arterial stiffening.

Dr Hannah Davies gave a presentation on how computational approaches can help to understand how aortic medial amyloid could be involved in aneurysm development on 18th January 2019, at 4th N8 Biophysical and Biochemical Symposium on Computational and Experimental Methods in Biology
at the University of Sheffield.

We were pleased to attend the launch of the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science (LCCS). Former Liverpool Football Club manager Gérard Houllier came to Liverpool to help launch the new collaborative research initiative to improve the heart health of the Liverpool City Region. The LABB group is excited about potential opportunities that will arise through LCCS and the difference that we can make to cardiovascular science through this new initiative.
